I’m pleased to be able to say this, and also a little anxious, but it’s for the best and I’m so happy that I’m now at this point: made-to-order will no longer be available from Wednesday 17th March.
From that date, all current pieces on the store will be made unavailable for the time being. The store will remain open, you’ll still be able to get in touch, browse pieces, and add them to your back in stock alerts amongst other things — but you won’t be able to place any orders for pieces that are not physically in stock.
On Wednesday 31st March, two weeks later, the store will pop back up, full of life with a fresh look and feel, some important tweaks that’ll make ordering much easier, and a plethora of extra details will be added to a new and updated Care section.
The store will relaunch with 10–15 pieces on an in-stock basis, meaning you will no longer have to wait lengthy periods of time for your order to be created and dispatched. But, most importantly, I don’t want you to worry; not all of my pieces will be available on the 31st, but most will return, and I’ll be aiming to restock things on a fortnightly basis. So every two weeks there will be even more pieces, both current and new, that you’ll be able to grab from my new in-stock offering and not have to wait for them to be created.
Made-to-order has been a pressure on my life that unfortunately has become unsustainable. I don’t want to disappoint you with delays, but I also don’t want to mass-produce my pieces. My new practices will enable me to print as few as three or four pieces per size and have them all labelled, packaged and ready to jet off to you, without outsourcing their production. Everything will still be handmade in my little studio in Manchester and scrutinised to the highest level of a crazed perfectionist.
I’m so excited for this next chapter of KULT. Most of all, I’m excited to be able to consistently impress you with my new speed of delivery. I’m not Amazon, and I never will be, but I’d still like to get your goodies to you in under a week — wherever you are in the world. This is the first step I need to take in order to fulfil that promise to you.
The store will relaunch on Wednesday 31st March.
